Black White Everything (and Me) at Rojo Gallery

Clemens Behr, a german artist, mainly works with cardboard, tape and found objects like wood. His recent work focuses on the transformation of a given space by building paper installations, which seem to take over the place they have been built in. Through simple geometric shapes, the observer experiences a casual confusion of 2D painted and 3D existing objects. With an easy folding technique, Behr quickly shapes papers and fills the space with origami-like sculptures, all made out of omnipresent materials which originally were made for everyday commodities...

For the show "Black White Everything", he does an "cut during assembly" installation in the Rojo Art Space Barcelona. Using the given colors of the gallery's visual appearance, black walls, white light, wooden ground and a red grid, Behr decided only to work with these colors. Wood and other materials implemented will be dependent on his findings during his stay in Barcelona.
On the one hand the fact of not knowing what exactly will be there to work with and then realizing on the other hand that his art always remains a spontaneous, process orientated installation, is what makes Behrs work challenging and exciting.

In addition to the Installation he will exhibit current prints, illustrations and a film about his former installations in the streets of Barcelona.
